DR. KELLY L. RONALD, P.I.
I am a sensory ecologist with broad training in animal physiology, behavior, and neurobiology. I use both field and lab approaches to address my research questions.
I study animal communication: the meaning of animal signals and the mechanisms of signal perception across multiple modalities. I am interested in questions like (1) how are animal courtship signals displays of quality? (2) how do multimodal signals propagate across different environments? and (3) how does receiver sensory biology affect behavioral decisions?
BROOKE VAN WYK
I will be a senior Biology and Music double major this upcoming semester. I hope to attend Veterinary school in the future.
I will be a Sophomore majoring in Biology this upcoming fall with aspirations of being a clinical pharmacist. Outside of class I enjoy painting and kickboxing.
I will be a senior at Hope this fall and I am looking forward to my final year working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. As a pre-vet student, I’ll be attending veterinary school and I’ve had the privilege of enjoying a variety of veterinary employment and shadow experience. In my free time you will find me outside with friends and family, horseback riding, hiking with my golden retrievers, reading, and volunteering for my church and local organizations.
I am an incoming junior this upcoming semester that is majoring in Biology with a Leadership Minor. I am on the Pre-PA track and plan to pursue healthcare after graduating. Outside of science, I participate in the STEP program and have founded a mentorship program while at Hope.
I am a Junior Biology major on the pre-dental track. I am a member of the Biology Tri-Beta National Honor Society and have received Dean’s List Honors every semester at hope. Outside the lab, I volunteer in the dental clinic and help write grants for Holland Free Health Clinic, serve as Hope College’s Habitat Humanity Chapter Secretary, and I am on Dance Marathon Dream Team. My interests include spending time outside (on the lake, on a hike, etc), spending time with friends and family, and playing IM sports at Hope.
