THE RONALD LAB
EMMA YONKER
I am a rising senior majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry, currently on the pre-veterinary track. I started working in the Ronald lab in 2022 and also serve on the executive board of Club Animalia. When I'm not in class or at the lab, I work as a veterinary assistant at the Animal Clinic of Holland. I love spending time outdoors, especially exploring the nearby lakeshore. I also enjoy reading and hanging out with friends, and spending time with my animals.
ASHLEY LAURAINE
I am a rising senior on the pre-veterinary track majoring in biology with a minor in biochemistry. I am involved at Hope through my position on the e-board for the pre-vet Club Animalia, performing with the theatre department, and working at the ExploreHope Summer Camps for the last 8 years teaching . I also love to spend my time reading, taking horseback riding lessons, volunteering at Renew Therapeutic Riding Center, and shadowing at veterinary clinics to gain experience for grad school. I am very excited to be a part of the Ronald Lab this year!
JORDAN WINTERS
I am a rising senior on the pre optometry track majoring in Biology with a minor in chemistry. I am on the Golf team at Hope as well as being apart of the pre-health professions club. In my free time I enjoying boating, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
JOHN WENDERSKI
I am a rising junior double majoring in psychology and chemistry on the pre-med track. Between my junior and senior year I plan to apply to medical schools. At Hope I run, jump, and throw on the track and field team, I am a co-president of the taekwondo club, and I participate in intramural sports. Outside of Hope, I like to go to the beach, explore nature, meet new people, and watch movies with friends.
NATALIE LEAKE-JARA
I am a rising junior on the premed track majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish and Chemistry. I joined the Ronald Lab in the summer of 2023 and am also a part of the pre-health professions club, garden club, and intramural sports. In my free time I enjoy reading, swimming, listening to music, and traveling to new places!
HANNAH PETERSON
I am a rising junior majoring in Biology with a pre-vet track. In my free time, I enjoy immersing myself in experiences revolving around animals and currently work under Hope College's Animal Technician staff, a PPC leader, and volunteer my time working with a wide range of animals. After graduating Hope College, I hope to attend Veterinary School and involve myself in research regarding the genetic makeup of dogs
CHISOM OKOGBUE
I am Chisom Stephanie Okogbue, class of 2027. On the Premed track, I’m studying molecular biology and biochemistry. In the future I will be a surgeon, researcher and definitely become the richest woman. I started working with Drs. Ronald and Gooch’s lab in summer 2024. I spend my free time dancing, listening to music, watching self-care videos on YouTube, and watching K-dramas
MADELINE TINSKEY
I am Madeline Tinskey, a pre-medical student majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Creative Writing. At Hope, I love participating in the Emmaus Scholars program, swing-dance, and am on the executive board of the Pre-Health Professionals club. In my free time, I enjoy crocheting, teaching at my local church, and writing. In the future, I am looking forward to pursuing my dreams of becoming a pediatric neurologist!
